Not just a summer destination, Mountsberg Conservation Area offers fantastic nature trails, great bird-watching spots, an amazing children’s play barn and fun annual events all year long.
Located on Milburough Line west of Campbellville, Mountsberg is a 472-hectare park owned and operated by the Halton Region Conservation Authority. Famous for its interactive Raptor Centre featuring birds of prey of all kinds, and for its reputation as a birdwatchers’ paradise, Mountsberg is also home to 16 kilometres of colour-coded trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.
This month, there will be an Owl Prowl on January 20 beginning at 7 p.m. Adults can learn more about this fascinating species while enjoying a hike through the crisp winter night to search for owls. Afterwards, enjoy a “nose to beak” visit with Mountsberg’s resident raptors! Pre-registration is required, visit http://www.conservationhalton.ca.
In late winter, as the temperature climbs to above freezing and the maple trees start to produce sap, Mountsberg’s Sugar Bush is a wonderful destination to visit to taste amazing sweet maple, right from the tree. Enjoy the first taste of spring on a horse drawn wagon ride during Maple Syrup Days, where maple syrup, pancakes and sweet sugar candy create indelible family memories. This year’s event begins on March 2 with the Flapjack Olympics and runs every weekend throughout March, as well as during March Break.
